Additional learning support
At Naremburn School, we ensure every student is ready to learn. We provide support for students with disability and additional learning needs so they can take part in all areas of school life.
Support that fits your child’s needs
Some students need extra help to feel confident and do their best at school. We work closely with families to develop support plans and adjustments that meet each child’s needs.
Additional learning support may include:
Collaborative support
- teachers and support staff working closely with families (and students, where appropriate)
- specialist support for students learning English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D)
- tailored programs for high potential and gifted students
- small-group tutoring for targeted literacy and numeracy support
- regular check-ins to review and update supports
Classroom adjustments
- accessible and flexible learning spaces
- assistive technology
- modified instructional resources
- extra guidance, simplified content or a different learning focus
Assessment adjustments
- additional time
- simplified language
- rest breaks
- alternative formats (e.g. oral presentation instead of written tasks)
How we know when a student needs support
We identify learning needs by:
- noticing changes in learning, behaviour or engagement
- reviewing assessment results and learning progress
- listening to concerns or requests for support from parents and carers
Adjustments are planned with parents and carers. They are reviewed regularly and changed when needed. If you think your child may need extra help, contact us.
